Let Go and Let God

Before giving my life to Christ, when I had an obstacle my friends would tell me “Emi, you just have to let go and let God”. In all honesty, I would just shrug them off because I didn’t know what they meant by it. Let go and let God, what does that really mean?

Unfortunately, there is no manual in which could show me how to let go and Let God. As a slight control freak it’s difficult for me to even TRUST and allow someone to do my personal laundry (yes I do not drop off) so the thought of dropping off My Baggage/ dirty laundry to someone (God) who I did not know or even spoke too was unthinkable to me. How could I tell him all of my wants and needs, I mean did I really want to drop off my “heavy load”. For years I would tippy-toe around starting a relationship with God. It wasn’t until I fell hard that I recalled the words of my friends. On that day I prayed one of the biggest prayers of my life and vowed to start a relationship with the lord, which I can say my was the best decision of my life.

Let go and let god to me means that you have entrusted the lord with your dirty laundry and are TRUSTING him to cleanse the Items in which you have given to him. In 1 John 1:9 (ESV) it says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. When building a relationship with God one of the most important things we must remember is that we must be able to TRUST him. We must TRUST that he by our side no matter what decision we make. If I knew then what I know now I would have “Let go and Let God” deal with all of my everyday heavy laundry.
